In 2003 Marc Jacobs brought Takashi Murakami into Louis Vuitton and the result was one of the most significant collaborations in fashion history. The Cherry Blossom collection, smiling sakura flowers printed directly onto the classic LV monogram canvas: sold out instantly and has never been reissued. Twenty years later it sits firmly in the collector canon alongside the Multicolour and the Cerises. The Papillon is the standout shape from the collection, the cylindrical barrel, the vachetta bow clasp, the gold studs on the straps. This one is in exceptional condition. The plastic is still on the clasps. It has never really been used and it shows.

Condition

Excellent — exceptional. Minimal to no signs of wear. As close to archive-perfect as a 2003 piece gets.

What to know: protective plastic still on the clasps. Canvas, vachetta leather and hardware all pristine. This is a time capsule piece.

Fair — Worn with life. Noticeable scuffs, tarnished hardware or surface marks. For the collector who appreciates a piece with a past, or wants a restoration project.
